They say blondes have more fun, and I have witnessed many men to prefer the blondes over the rest of us. I have even posed the question to many men of why they prefer the blonder version of the fairer sex. The answer is typically somewhere along the lines of “cause their hotter”, since this is in no way an actual reason, I must ask are they hot because they are blonde or are they blonde because they are hot… mind bender, huh?… yeah, I’ll let you ruminate over that one while I move on to my next point.
I would chalk it up to some sort of subconscious fascination with the phenotypic expression of recessive traits, but if that were true, then albinos would be some seriously hot property. Maybe it is just part of the biological imperative that some argue underlies all of our mating choices. Maybe blondes just look like they will be more fertile and better mothers or maybe they just smell more during ovulation, or maybe they just ovulate all the time (probably not that last one). I don’t know I just can’t see men looking a blonde in a mini-skirt and thinking “Yeah, there is some seriously reliable motherhood material…is that the sweet aroma of fertility wafting off of her? I got to get me some of that”. Maybe it has nothing to do with biology at all, maybe it is a cultural construct, a sort of social brainwashing reinforced by movies, magazines, songs, and merchandise (Barbie), telling men and women that blondes are better, hotter, smarter (okay, maybe not this one), sweeter, more willing to compromise, less willful and headstrong. I don’t mean to sound like some sort of crazy femi-nazi or resentful blonde hater, but there has to be something about blondes. I suppose the point of this rant is not so much to make a point as ponder one, and to ask all you blonde lovin men out there…why blonde?…It’s the fertility thing isn’t it?
